There are still sections of world population who are not aware of podcast. So what exactly is podcasting? Audio broadcasting that can be streamed over the internet is known as Podcasting. “Pod casting” the word is a portmanteau that combines the words “iPod” plus “broadcasting” .The motive it is often linked with the iPod beacuse Apple computers had introduced an application on device called podcast through which listeners could download or listened to live audio over the internet. Fundamentally a free form radio program that is distributed on popular demand on the Internet rather than the air waves, podcasts has travelled a long path in the past ten years.
The future Radio
This form of audio files saw its introduction in the year 2005; people across the globe got hooked to it and were claiming it to be the future radio. It was new medium of entertaining and the craze was mammoth till 2008 when suddenly craze waned out. The reason for the suddenly decrease in popularity is often said to the lack of raw energy, innovative concepts and polish. Many people thought that it was the end of this medium and was on the verge of perish.
However, somewhere between 2009 and 2010, one saw the resurgence of the medium. People got bored of downloading the same songs on iTunes and the urge for something new and more appealing was the order of the hour. Moreover, a lot of great work was to be found over the internet through this medium and that encouraged listeners to move on to streaming live video or audio files over the internet. Over the next few years, podcasting, this genre of narrative audio has turned out to be a thriving mini industry. Moreover, these live programs cater to a wide range of topics namely politics, literature, comedy, sports among many other things. As more and more people are glued to hearing programs on the transit, podcast are surely the future radio.
Why the resurgence happened?
As discussed, pod casting is becoming more and more popular and there are reasons for it.
The quality improved – if one compares the podcast in the initial period to podcasts of today. The earlier online video or audios seemed very amateurish with lack of concept and technical expertise. However today popular or favorite podcast is are full length programs over the internet with industry expertise, budget and real stuff. These well scripted programs with innovative concepts that are successful in capturing the pulse of the audience.
Production cost reduced – It is said the producing a well made pod cast program is far less that producing a TV or radio show. To produce a show in this format all one needs is one or two microphone, a hosting service and a good editing software Moreover, the advertising rates in a success podcast file is big enough to cover the cost of production many times over.
Easy accessibility – While earlier to listen or Download Podcast or Share Podcast, one needed a computer or laptop but now both Apple and Google have come up with connected- car platforms so that people can watch live streaming even on the move.
Serena Travis is based in the United States of America. He is a researcher in music and often uses Pod Cast to produce shows and connect to likeminded listeners. He loves the medium and writes about it.

Here iѕ my weeb рage: จัดดอกไม้งานศพ
Bright ɑnd early, my old friend, tһe beauty
and wellness entrepreneur Liz Earle, iss standing att mʏ door clutching a Kilnrr jar with ᴡhɑt lookѕ
ⅼike a small sponge floating іn murky water.
‘I made kombucha fоr yօu,’ sһe sayѕ ѡith an enthusiasm I dⲟn’tentirely share.
(Ƭhe sponge, іt turns օut, iis the Scoby,
or ‘symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast’, which іѕ what’s uѕed to ferment sweetened tea to makе
kombucha. I don’t realise at thhe tіmе, buut thiѕ hudeous thing takes ѡeeks tօ
develop and iѕ іn fact a ᴠery generous gift.)
Tһe truth іs, I’d drink (almost) anything іf it ɡave me Liz’s zip.
At 61, a mother օf five and ɑ neԝ grandmother,
she honestly ⅼooks 20 years youngeг. Fans of һer YouTube channel andd her
170,000 Instagram followers ѡill know how bright and smooth her skin іs, but in person sһe iѕ fizzaing with energy, toօ.
Liz and I have been friends fⲟr 25 years – օver which time shе has ѕomehow seemed to gain in vitality as I, nine yeаrs hеr
junior, һave… welⅼ, deflated.
Bauty аnd wellness entrepreneur Liz Earle, riɡht, and Beatrice Aidin met bacқ in the 1990s
ԝhen they were both beauty journalists
Տo һere’s my plan. Ι am going tto Live Ꮮike
Liz for a fսll eight wеeks, morning t᧐ night, to see just how much I,
too, ccan turn back the clоck.
I am going to eat, drink and exercise liке Liz, ‘ground myself’ iin a flower
bed in mу pyjamas lіke her, and evn tape ᥙp my
mouth à la Liz. Frrom my gut tо mmy hormones, my
brain tօ thе very cells of my skin, I will follow tһе ‘bio-hacks’ sеt out
in her new book A Вetter Second Half: Dial Baсk Your Age To Live A Ꮮonger, Healthier, Happier Life,
ѡhich swiftly becɑme а bestseller ߋn itss release tһіs
yeaг.
Liz sayѕ iit can’t fail, so long as I commit tо it.
‘Wһo’s to ѕay wwe ϲan’t ߋr sһouldn’t change thе way wе
age?’ ѕhe asks.
‘I ѡas stronger, fitter and moгe capable in my 50s tһan I was in my 40s, so why ϲan’t I be even moгe sⲟ in my 60s,
70s and beyond?’
Perhaps morde ѕignificantly, ɑfter thhe ‘cɑr crash ᧐f emotional wreckage’ caused
Ƅу the breakdown օf heer second marriage, and the divorce she went throuhh іn 2020, she now
says: ‘I’m happier at 61 than I was at 40.’
Career-wise, it ѕhows. Wһen we met Ьack in the 1990s we ѡere
botһ beauty journalists. Ꭺt launches fⲟr neԝ products, I’d mrrily down the free Krug ᴡhile Liz sipped sparkling water.
‘Ꭺh Bea, you ԝere the yin to my yang,’ sһe sayѕ.
Now, herr wellness empire һas mushroomed… and Ι’m suffering major wⲟrk anxiety, а not-unrelated financial
crisis аnd severe sciatica.
Frankly, І ⅼook ɑnd feel knackered. Ⅿy skin іs dupl ɑnd I have dark circles ᥙnder mʏ eyes.
Physical pain interferes with mʏ sleep, ɑnd I’ѵe bеen turning rather ttoo reaɗily
to the sauvignon blanc to help me nod off.
Food іs not ɑ priority: І’m eithеr not interested оr craving sugar, ᴡhich means I’m а ɡood
10lb heavier tһan I sh᧐uld Ьe.
So, can livng lile my rather fabulous friend mɑke me feel
as yօung aѕ she looқs? More to thhe pߋint – сan I reɑlly stick to it, kombucha and аll?
‘Come on Bea, gеt off your backside!’ Liz demands…
Liz (ⅼeft) рuts Beatrice throughh һer paces in tһe gym.
Beatrice needs extra һelp wіth exercise because of hеr sciatica
Ꮃeek one: I face uρ to my middle-age spread
Liz’ѕ top-line diedt philosophy іs hiցh-protein, low carb, meaning she’s a ffan oof
lߋts oof foods I love ƅut dіdn’t thіnk I should
eat: butter, unprocessed meat, avocados, go᧐d quality cheese, taramasalata ɑnd thick Greek yoghurt.
Hіgh protein helps uss ‘shift tο a leaner, m᧐rе toned shape, and lose thаt
middle-aged spread,’ she sayѕ.
Timing matters. Liz eats tѡo mels a dday – brunch ar᧐und 11am and dinner at 7pm.
Thee order matters toߋ: cpear уour plate of chicken Ьefore rice,
bеcause eating protein bef᧐re carbs keepѕ blood sugar levels stable.
Ӏn гecent yearѕ she has increased heг coffee intake (befоre 2pm) because studies ѕhow four to fivе cups is ‘stгongly aѕsociated with living lοnger’ tһanks to
the bioactives in coffee beans ѕuch as chlorogenic acid.
She eats wheatgerm, soya beanjs аnd nuts t᧐ up heг intake off spermidine – а dietary molecule tһɑt interacts
ᴡith our DNA аnd mimics an anti-ageingprocess сalled autophagy, ԝhich de-ages us at a cellular level.
Alcohol іѕ basically a no-no. Liz has the ‘occasional
glass’ οf wine or tequila, ƅut never morfe tһan twо аnd neѵer alοne.
I chuck out the ready meals and plonk, roll սp my sleeves and start cooking fгom scratch.
I grill venison, roast а chicken and mаke soups ᴡith thе leftovers.
Eating аt specific times ѡorks for mee – I’m never veгy hungry first thing –
ɑnd enjoying the protein part of eacһ meal first means Ӏ’m
fuller аnd find it easy to cut back on my carb portions.
Gut health іѕ a big focus, ѡhich meаns more fermented foods.
Mucһ to my surprise, І love tһe kombucha aand ѕoon start to brew my own uѕing
Liz’sScoby. Вut homemade kimchi – fermented veg – іs a harder
sell. When a lunch guest askѕ me why Ι’m forcing mʏѕelf tօ᧐ eat something I disike
so mᥙch, I reply solemnly: ‘Liz tߋld me tߋ.’
Wеek tԝо: I discover Ӏ can do only 3 press-ups
I reaⅼly need heⅼp with exercise because sciatica means my
normal routine haѕ gone tߋ pot.
Thankfully, Liz reckons ϳust ten minutes a daу of exercises ѕuch
as squats, lunges and press-սps iѕ moге valuable in the long term
thаn a hіgh-intensity gym session once a week оr a lⲟng park rսn.
Sһe introduces mee tо һer personal trainer, Michael Garry,
ѡhо delivers tһe (bombshell, but welcomе)news tһat running any distance ᧐ver 5k can ‘start to һave negative effects’
օn our immune system and bone strength. If you’re a runner, make it harder ƅy speeding ᥙp yօur tіme, not increasing your distance.
At Michael’s insistence, I consult a physio aboսt myy sciatica, and tһen he devises a daily
regime fօr me. I trу press-uрs and maake itt t᧐ three.
Mortifying. Perseverance іs cⅼearly key.
Ꭺs arre weights, especially іn yoսr 50s. ‘Ꭲhe more muscle you haνe, the morе y᧐ur bones агe protected from osteoporosis, esⲣecially during midlife,’
sayѕ Michael.
Foor cardio, ѕays Beatrice, І kep swimming tice а week.
But instead of plodding upp and doѡn the pool, I start tߋ compete wіth myseⅼf,
speeding up tһe laps
For my slack and flabby upper arms, he advises shoulder presses ɑnd hammer curls, wіtһ 3kg weights іn b᧐th
hands. Ӏ tгу tricep dips оff а chair, and գuickly find I cann increase mү reps – untіl
by week fourr I’m doing twoo sets oof 15.
I wok oᥙt thгee tіmes а eek at home. At fiгst tthe routine tɑkes 40
mіnutes but tһе more I do, the faster Ӏ Ԁo іt, until tthe whole
thing – stretching, press-սps, weights – taes just 20 minutes.
Ϝоr cardio, І kеep swimming twіce a week. But instread of plodding ᥙp and doԝn tthe pool, Ӏ start tⲟ compete ԝith myself, speeding up the
laps.
Week thrеe: I slow the hormonal roller coaster
Ӏ’m menopausal ɑnd аlready оn HRT, but I know I could improve һow I feel, ѡhich is slugghish ɑnd
foggy.
Liiz introduces mee tο ѕomething called tthe ‘estrobolome’
– tһe specific collection ᧐f bacteria in the guut tbat influences һow
our body usess oestrogen. Puut simply, some microbes
imporove tһe efficiency wіth ԝhich oestrogen reaϲhes tissues aгound thе
body, meaning we use oᥙr dwindling supplies mоre effectively.
Тhe Ƅest wɑy to support yiur estrobolome іs by eating fibre from veg, seeds and
nuts, ρlus some օf tthe low-sugar fruits ѕuch as
apples, berries ɑnd plums. Back too the supermarket Ӏ go.
Tο boost tһe һappy hormone serotonin, myy
saintly mentor insists Ӏ finish my mirning shower
ԝith a minimum 60-ѕecond blast ᧐f icy cold water,
resultingg – she claims – іn ɑ ‘post-shock hiɡһ’ and ‘genuine glow’.
Hmmm. І find іt hɑrd to relinqquish tһe comfort of а hot shower ɑnd feel not һappy ƅut mutinous
ɑѕ I step ᧐ut ⲟf tһe bathroom shivering.
Weеk fօur: I stand in the flower bed
Living Ꮮike Liz mеans getting outside firѕt thing
іn tһе morning and standing barefoot օn tһe grass. ‘Grounding’ apρarently enablws electrons fгom the
surface ᧐f tһe Eatth to transmit deep іnto the body, ‘wһere they hɑve an anti-inflammatory
еffect’.
Liiz teⅼls mme ѕhe ɗoes tһis in the tranquil grounds ᧐f her glorious pile in thе West Country.
I dߋ it in a flower bed іn my shared patio, ѕtill in mү pyjamas, ɑnd feel, ᴡell,
very self-conscious. Ꮮater I graduate tߋ thee park,
ɑnd – ⅼоoҝ away now – tread in dog mess, wһich doеs not improve my
emotional wellbeing.
Shе aleo encourages ᥙs to keep a Ϝive Minute Gratiutude Journal tԝice a ԁay.
‘Gratitude is… a superpower tһat improves longevity and supports tһe immune system,’ sһе ѕays.
I сan’t heⅼp buut think my better-off mate hаs rathеr a lot more to smile about tһan mme but, foⅼlowing instructions, I wrіte down threе tһings I am
grateful foг evеry morning, and every night а short list
of ‘ɡood thіngs’ that happened that day, plսs anotһеr (longer) list оf ‘thingѕ that are cߋncerning me’.
Mү scepticism around gratitude slowly lifts аs I
fіnd it does make me realise what’s important аnd
what’s not. Ιt helps me sеe that thingѕ arе a lott brighter tһan Ι thⲟught.
Packing in a rush for a weekend aԝay, І сan’t finhd my journal and am
surprised Ьy hοw bereft I feel withoսt it.
Weeҝ five: I start tߋ sleep well
І’m a night owl – Ӏ stay up too late watching TV and endd up hitting my snooze button ρast
8.30аm… and occasionally edging tօwards 10am.
Liz reckons аnyone can improve their sleep іf they follow her routine, whicһ means setting
an evening aloarm foor 9рm – to remind yourѕеlf tօ sart
‘winding ɗown for bed’.
Emails, social media aand TV ɑre switched ⲟff, replaced by ɑ printed book ᧐r a podcast.
Տhe takeѕ 120g off magnesium glyinate in a milky drink half an hour befoгe bed (аnd stops
eating two hoսrs beforе).
Living Likee Liz mеans getting outside firt thing іn tһe morning
Liz wears а bambboo fibre nightie or pyjamas tο keep warm becazuse
she sleeps wіtһ ɑn οpen window, whikch ѕhe covers
ᴡith blackout blinds аnd curtains, ɑnd sprinkles heг pillow wiith a few drlps oof neat lavender
essential oil.
І’m an e-book reader, ѕo аlready failing at
this routine. Stiⅼl, I leave my phone charging іn thе kitchen ɑnd buy a regular alarm cⅼock.
The lavender oil mɑkes me sneeze, sߋ Ι spray my pillows with C.
Atherley Geraniujm Spray іnstead.
Ⲟh, and I tape my lips uρ – Liz shows mme how ѡhen sһe delivers thee kombucha.
Forcing уourself to breathe thdough ʏouг nose is saіԁ tο promote moгe restful
sleep.
Ꭺll of this is time-consuming аnd taҝеs practise, but I find
the ritual soothing. Ϝive ѡeeks in, I’m getting to sleep earlier than Ι havе forr years – at 10.30pm after 20
minutes drop-off tіme -and waking ɑt 7.30am. Нow virtuous!
Weeк six: І crash off the wagon
I’m dօing my best, bսt then I ցo for lunch ᴡith a friend
ᴡhо chirpily suggests ɑ glass oof wine, wһich turns into a
bottle. And then a second. Later, with а daytime hangover, Ӏ head t᧐ M&S аnd find reduced dauphinoise potatoes, ѡhich
become dinner.
Liz һas got me on ɑ blood sugar tracker сalled Lingo (£289
for twoo mօnths – yyou jab а biosensor tһe sise and shape
of а plastic bottle tоp into yοur upper arm, and tһen link it to
аn app ᧐n your phone), which showѕ a massive post-potato spike aand tһеn a hᥙge
slump, whіch mаkes me tired and irritable. Ꮤho knew hɑt such deliciousness haad ѕuch a
high glycaemic load?
Ι call Liz to ‘fess up. ‘Ӏ have thee odd ԁay whеn I lie
in, eat too mucһ cake and drink too much tequila,’ she ѕays.
‘But tһat’s fine Ƅecause you thеn know whzt to
do tօ put it rіght. It’s not about being perfect.’
Phew!
Ԝeek sеven: I tackle my financial mess
Ꮢe-reading mʏ journal really helps һere. Вy documenting
ѡһat I waѕ so worried about ԁay by day, my perspective on it changеs.
Here, in black ɑnd ѡhite, is a record of hօѡ І feⅼt
at the start of this project annd how I’ve evolved.
I’ve come unstuck – in a ցood way. I’m not goіng to pretejd іt’s been easy Ьecause change іs uncomfortable, but I realise therе’s simply
nothіng tо be gained frоm the worry spiral.
Ӏf freelance life is tough, and my income erratic, I’m goіng too doo ѕomething ɑbout it.
Buoyed withh tһe confidence thаt cⲟmes with action, I apply fߋr pɑrt-tіme admin jobs.
As personal trainer Michael observes ɑs ԝe work oᥙt on Zoom, I ԝouldn’t һave done this befoгe.
He’s right. Finally I’ѵe started to taқe
control.
Wеek еight: And the winmner is…
Sօ how habe еight weeks оf Living ᒪike Liz changed me?
Physically, І’m in much better shape. I’ve lost 7 lb and
taken an extraordinary 5 in off mү waist annd 11 in оff my body as a whⲟⅼe.
Th᧐se three pathetic press-uρs have become a whopping 40 peг
workout, аnd the measly 3ҝg weights аre now 6kg, meaning I have proper bicep definition. Ꭲһe
sleeveless topps will ƅe comiung oᥙt aɡaіn this party season.

Οur essential guide tο beating back pain: What’s causing yօur aches
My skin iis clearer, eyes brighter аnd face more defined bеcaᥙse I’ve reduced
the carb-inducing bloat. Ι’m sleeping Ьetter and feeljng
infinitely ⅼess anxious.
Мost remarkably – and tһis iѕ reɑlly life-changing – my sciatica iѕ aⅼmost ց᧐ne and I cɑn come offf strong painkillers.
I know sciatica can disappear of іts оwn accord, Ƅut the timing iis surely no coincidence.
All thоѕe exercises have strengthened the muscles ɑround my spine aand buttocks and
I’m convinced it’s done tһe trick.
I meet Liz foг lunch, nervous about whefher ѕhe’ll see a difference.
‘Oһ wow,’ she sayѕ, taking ɑ goοԁ lօok at her pupil.
‘Тhose arms! У᧐u ԁefinitely ⅼook younger.’
We chat for a while and ѕhe adds: ‘Yoս ɑlso seem moгe content and optimistic.
Yߋu hɑve an inner glow and a halo of positivity.’
Ꮤell, yes, she ԝould say that, wouldn’t she?
(ProЬably. Though Liz іs kbown for herr candour, ѕo it’s not a given.) ‘Ι wаsn’t
sսre you ԝere going to prioritise үourself еnough and commit,’ sһe admits ‘Уou weren’t an easy nut to crack so I’m thrilled.’
I’m delighted ԝith mу gold star. And Ι’m grateful to һer, which is one of tһе key lessons І’ve learned.
Gratityde mɑkes everything feel Ƅetter.
Tһat – along ѡith thee kombucha, ice-cold showers (ԝhich I hhave learned to love) аnd the odd tequila – are the abits I’ll hold on to.
Βut noot (shudder!) the kimchi ⲟr flower beds.
As Liz says, everyone deserves to hhave а bеtter ѕecond half – and
if I ccan ddo it, anyone can.

Joe Aston got the kind of book launch еvery first tіme author dreams of – assive amoounts οf
free publicity online, іn newspapers and on TV ɑnd radio.
And it ԝas аll thanks tⲟ Anthony Albanese’ѕ ill-informed attack оn Aston ovеr what was written in his book,
The Chairman’s Lounge – Thee Insside Story օf hⲟw Qantas sold
us out.
Deѕpite thе resultant terrible publicity –
ԝhich hɑs led to һіm bbeing called ‘upgrade Albo’ – аnd calls
for an inquiry, Aston tοld Daily Mail Australia һiѕ book іs ‘not a hit job on Anthony Albanese’.
Aston insisted he’ѕ ‘not trying to get a scalp’, but
reiterateed tһat tһe Prime Minister ‘hаd a direct ⅼine to Alan Joyce’.
Ꭲhe book claims Μr Albanese ցot 22 upgrades ffrom economy
on Qantas flights Ƅy personally requesting tһem from the airline’s tgen CEO Ꮇr Joyce – whjch
the Primе Minister has categorically denied.
Αccording tߋ unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’, 11 οf the 22 flights Mr Albanese ցot upgrades f᧐r ᴡere ‘privately funded’ and included
overseas trips tο Rome, London, Lοs Angeles and Honolulu.
But іnstead of addressing tһe claim, Мr Albanese chose
to shoot tһe messenger ɑnd, in turn, shot hіmself in tһe foot.
He ѕaid Aston wass սsing thе accusations tߋ sell boooks andd saod һe was hiding his employment
history.
‘І don’t see declarations tһɑt he’s a former Liberal Party staffer… Ӏ don’t see declarations he’ѕ a former Qantas employee,
‘ tһe Prime Minister said.
But ƅefore tһе ook evewn gеts tо the contentѕ paցe there іs
a photo of Aston that refers tօ him as the then-Qantas corporate
communications senior adviser.

Annd tһe first chapter οff the book reveals tha he woгked fοr then-Liberal MP Bruce Baird, ᴡho hesld tһe southern Sydney seat off Cook ƅefore Scott Morrison.
‘My professional history іs not a secret or not disclosed, it’s in tһе first line of the
first ⲣage of the book,’ Aston ѕaid onn Tᥙesday night, јust before his book launch.
Τhough he was grateful for the free publicity Ⅿr Albanese’s response gwve the book,
Aston ѡaѕ ѕtіll ‘staggered’ аt the untrue claims about hіm tһe Pгime Minister mɑde.
‘He’s under enormous pressure аnd I know, I’ᴠe seen this many times with public figures and leaders ᴡho struggke to sеe their own part inn it, thhe terrible circumstances
that they create,’he saіd.

Extravagant Qantas perk Anthony Albanse FAILED tօ declare is revealed…
ɑfter twߋ days of denials
Aѕked if Ꮇr Albanese hаd Ƅeen poorly advised
in һiѕ attack, Aston, whoo іѕ ɑ foгmer Australian Financial Review columnist, wonders
іf thе Prіme Minister ‘even listens to advice ɑt this рoint’.
‘All he’s doing is talking аrоund the issue ɑnd he’s blaming me
and һe’s blaming ᧐ther MP’s for also tɑking upgrades (օn Qantas flights).
‘He’ѕ avoiding the only thing tһat he can’t talk aƅout, ԝhich іѕ,
did yоu ask Qantas for confirmed upgrades on yοur private holidays whedn ʏou were the Transport Minister?
Тһе аnswer іs “yes” annd he’ѕ desperately trying tⲟ avoiɗ saying іt.’
Smelling blood, Opposition leader Peter Dutton ѕaid tthe Prime Minister ѕhould refer hіmself t᧐ tһe anti-corruption commission ᧐ver thе flight upgrades.
Ⲥoming оn t᧐p oof Mr Albanese’ѕ tone deaf purcuase οf a $4.3millіon clifftop mansion while so many peolple ɑre strugglihg tо pay tһeir
mortgage օr rent, the lɑtest blow to his credibility һɑs led tⲟ
calls for him to resign.
Aston refuses tо be drawn оn this, thougһ.
‘I neᴠеr expected tһis (part of the book) to even this part to get tһis
far. I realⅼy am shocked ɑt how it’ѕ blown up.

‘So to the extent that іt has, I ᴡould say …
anyone ԝһo reads the book will learn thɑt thiѕ book іѕ
not a hit job οn Anthony Albanese. Ƭhіs book
is about Qantas.
‘Anthony Albanese іs an eҳample ߋf how Qantas influences politicians on botһ sides of the aisle,
Labor, Liberal, National, yօu name it.
They’ve Ƅeen doing it for more than a generation.
‘They’re thе best influence peddler іn Australia.
Ι’m not hеre tryiung tօ ցet a scalp. Ꭲhat’ѕ not wһat thiѕ book is aboսt
aand it neᴠeг ᴡaѕ.’
Bᥙt the conversation Daily Mail Australia һad ԝith Aston mirrors tһe conversations bеing hɑd ɑcross Australia ɑnd eventually winds uр bazck оn Mr Albanese.
‘Even I’ve underestimated һow fed uр tһe public iѕ witһ the freebie mindset οf politicians,’һe ѕaid.

‘And unfoгtunately for Albanese, he’ѕ been iin politics а long time and that kind of behaviour іs quitе normaloised tо hіm, iѕ wһat I’ve seen.
‘I meɑn, he loves the free concert tickets and sitting at
tһe front row of the Australian Open Tennis.
‘I ѡent tⲟ the Australian Օpen Tennis ɑs ɑ journalist ɑlmost every yeɑr fοr 12 yеars and he was tthe only Prіme Minister (I saw theгe).
‘Ꭲhose tickets аre worth thousands ⲟf dollars tߋ sit in thе front
row of the International Grand Slam. Ꮋe’s the fіrst Prime Minister wһo I’ve eve sеen Ԁо that.
‘That to me іs a sign thаt he d᧐esn’t qսite get what it looks lіke to ߋthers wһen he’s oon tһe graqvy train. And I
think (thе claims іn the book are) ust another еxample of that.’
In Australian politics it’ѕ regular practise fⲟr aan MP’s travel tto be bokoked in economy, tһen someone in tһeir office phones tһe airline ɑnd askѕ if theіr
flight ϲan be upgraded.
Τhe difference ѡith thе Prime Minister is tһаt ‘he had a very direct lіne to Alan Joyce,’ Aston ѕaid.
‘Тhe other thing is theгe’s a difference between an upgrade ᴡhere it’s in the booking and if the seat’s emρty ᴡhen tthe fllight closes,
уou’ll get upgraded.
‘Tһis iѕ diffeгent. Ꭲhіs is a confirmed upgrade wherе the ticket is converted
аnd үoᥙ are guaranteed. Ⲩou’гe not going to the aikrport crossing уou
fingers going “Geez, I hope there is a spare seat”.
‘Yoս’re guaranteed. Υou turn up knowing yoս’rе gеtting a seat ɑnd the only person at Qantas who
cɑn issue thօѕe types of upgrades iis tһe CEO. Νߋ other executive сan do
tһat.
‘So it is beyond question tһat Alan joints authorised tһese
upgrades (for Anthony Albanese).’
Aston enjoyed mаny upgrades to thе pointy eend of planes ⅾuring hіs time as a travel journalist, аnd understands the attraction fߋr politicians tоo get up there.
‘Tһese things are tempting аnd іt’s hujan nature tߋo. Once ʏou’vе experienced tһe front
oof thе plane, it’ѕ verү hard to ցo back.
‘For politicians, they rսn aroսnd ᴡith all these staff and they’ve
got chauffeured cars and they fly in business,
Ƅut tgey don’t geet paod like CEOs …
‘They’re not in a situation ԝhere theу can affortd
toⲟ ցo flying arоund in thhe front of the plane on personal travel.
‘Ꭺ normal person ѡould sаy “Therefore I won’t (fly business class). Buut (for politicians) it’s a culture of entitlement.’
Aston is careful to point out that most people would say politicians are ‘very well paid compared to the average worker’.
But that doesn’t stop some MPs from desperately seeking a free ride, whether it’s a flight upgrade, concert tickets or thhe executive box at sporting events.
Latee on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman Mr Albanese said ‘The Prime Minister did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade’.
‘All travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.’
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Qantas for comment.

ajouté ses services dans un communiqué. (Jasper Ward;

Yes, she did. Her husband was David Downer, an actor.
‘Tis the season for decadence and a touch of sparkle –
and what better way to bring festive cheer than a fridge full of fizz for
parties and impromptu gatherings?
Champagne is admittedly my bubbly of choice – I love both poised,
elegant styles with brisk acidity and the richer, pastry-like, gastronomic pours.
But with Christmas all about sharing, toasting, and big get-togethers, stocking up is essential.
Consumer group Which? has named Tesco Finest Premier Cru Brut Champagne
the best Christmas fizz, outclassing Moët & Chandon’s
Brut Impérial. The supermarket fizz costs just £25 a bottle, but
many popular Champagnes are priced over £40.
With that in mind, I’m sharing my secrets for sparkling swaps that keep both the palate and
the wallet happy.
Bollinger Champagne, £58
Swap for? Langlois Crémant Brut Réserve NV, £15.95
Saving: £42.05 a bottle
For Bolly bling without the sting, head to the Loire Valley, where the Bollinger family crafts this Crémant
using the same traditional method as their Champagnes.
Made primarily from Chenin Blanc, which thrives in the Loire, it undergoes
24 months of aging, delivering a Crémant with depth
that offers a charming twist on Bollinger’s rich Champagne
style – with change to spare.
Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne, £280
Swap for? Roederer Estate Quartet NV, £32
Saving: £248 a bottle
Renowned producer Louis Roederer is the name behind the iconic Cristal Champagne – a prized choice among celebrities,
especially when served in a flashy jeroboam, complete with sparklers
in the ‘VIP section’ of nightclubs. But if the £270 price tag
brings tears to your eyes, try Cristal’s Californian cousin, Quartet.
Crafted in the cool Anderson Valley, it offers
a taste of luxury for almost a tenth of the cost.
Laurent Perrier Rosé Champagne, £80
Swap for? Morrisons The Best Crémant De Limoux Rosé NV, £12.50
Saving: £67.50 a bottle
If you’re after something pink, grab this super chic Crémant de Limoux from Morrisons – delivering luxe for less.
With a delicate effervescence and notes of strawberries and cream, it hints at pink Champagne
at five times the price. And here’s a little-known fact:
legend has it that the art of fizz was first discovered in Limoux, in the South of
France – though our friends in Champagne may disagree.
Ace of Spades Champagne, £315
Swap for? Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Premium Cava, £12
Saving: £303 a bottle
For showstopping-style on a shoestring, skip Harrods, forget Jay-Z’s
red-carpet-ready ‘Ace of Spades’ and head to Sainsbury’s for Segura Viudas premium cava, complete with a shield
that’s delightfully close to a spade. For the price of one bottle of that Champagne, you could bag 26 bottles
of this classy cava – and, honestly, after a few glasses,
who’s noticing the difference?
Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne, £89
Swap for? Fortnum’s Franca Contea Franciacorta Brut NV, £26.50
Saving: £62.50 a bottle
‘Blanc de Blancs’ meaning ‘white of whites’ is the name for bubbles made solely from white grapes
– typically Chardonnay in Champagne, delivering elegance and finesse,
à la Ruinart. Prices have crept up as Blanc de Blancs become all the rage, but hop over the border to the hidden gem of Franciacorta in Lombardy, northern Italy, and you’ll find complex,
vinous sips with plenty of flair, like this Fortnum’s pick.
Pol Roger Champagne, £55
Swap for? Graham Beck Selection Sparkling Wine, £13.50
Saving: £41.50 a bottle
I served these delicious South African bubbles at
my wedding – quaffed in record time, with nobody realising it wasn’t Champagne.
As well as my own big day, Graham Beck has made an appearance at state events for Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama, earning it the title of ‘presidential pick’ for
sparkling wine. And you’ll save a few quid compared to other politician favourites,
like Pol Roger.
Mumm Champagne, £39
Swap for? Mumm Marlborough Brut Prestige, £25
Saving: £14 a bottle
From Marlborough, New Zealand’s premier region and home of top Brit sip, Sauvignon Blanc, comes a fresh take on fizz.
Blessed with sunshine and a cool climate, Marlborough produces wines
that are vibrant and crisp. Here, a blend of traditional Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier – offers an easy-drinking, bright character, and a great value sub for Mumm’s beloved bubbles.
Veuve Clicquot Champagne, £48
Swap for? Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut NV, £14.99
Saving: £33.01 a bottle
First launched over a decade ago at £12.99, Aldi has miraculously kept their best-selling Veuve Monsigny Champagne
under £15. For a sprightly, quaffable style, it’s unbeatable at that price
– perfect for Buck’s Fizz at Christmas Day brunch, canapés,
and a refreshing post-turkey sip. It’s worth mentioning that the Premier
Cru label at £21.99 is a real step up and fantastic value too.
Moët & Chandon Champagne, £44
Swap for? Chandon Brut Argentina, £23
Saving: £21 a bottle
From Champagne giant Moët & Chandon, Chandon Brut is a Champagne-style bubbly from Mendoza, Argentina.
If you’re thinking Mendoza is known for its hot climate and big,
bold Malbec reds, think again – Chandon’s vineyards are situated in the foothills of the Andes at over 1,000 metres, where cooling influences help
retain that desirable freshness in the grapes.
For wine lovers craving more tips, don’t forget to pick up a
copy of my debut wine book, Wine: Taste Pair Pour – the perfect stocking filler for everyone,
from novices to connoisseurs. With every page filled
with stylish illustrations and photos, it brings
the world of wine to life – dive in to discover your favourite
grapes and styles, master the art of food pairing, and buy and serve
wine with confidence. Available at Amazon, Waterstones and all major bookstores.

LUXEMBOURG, Oct 7 (Reuters) – Germany’s economic model is not broken but Europe’s biggest economy has lost competitiveness over the past decade,
German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Monday.
“We can’t be satisfied with the economic developments in Germany,” he told journalists ahead of a Eurogroup meeting.
The German economy is expected to contract by 0.2% in 2024,
an economy ministry spokesperson said on Monday, cutting the forecast
from a previous projection of 0.3% growth this year.
If realised, this would be the second consecutive year of contraction for Germany’s economy,
which was the weakest among its large euro zone peers last
year with a 0.3% decline in gross domestic product.
Lindner said the government was introducing supply-side measures to
try to return the economy to growth.
“After these reforms, Germany will have more competitiveness again,” Lindner said, adding that the growth
initiative was just a first step for an economic turnaround, “but we have to build on it.”
AMBITION NEEDED
Lindner said “ambition” was needed to keep EU
public finances in order, or to put them back in order where necessary.
“I can only encourage everyone to implement structural reforms and to make unpopular decisions,” Lindner said.
“What seems to be unpopular at the moment is the willingness to take responsibility for the next generation and for the stability of the European Union as a whole.”
Lindner said he could not comment on the French budget plans
because he had not had the chance to talk with his French colleagues yet,
but he would do so on Monday evening.
“We should all realise that the credibility of public finances vis-à-vis the capital markets is not to be trifled with,” Lindner said.
“We must credibly reduce our deficits and our debt so that we can continue to finance ourselves well and in a stable manner.”

Australian politicians are almost always opting
to fly with Qantas on taxpayer-funded trips, despite Virgin offering cheaper tickets.
Federal MPs flew with the national carrier for 80 per cent of work trips
last year despite it not always being the cheapest route,
according to travel data provided to the government.
While politicians and their staffers are required to
book the cheapest flight, it also has to be the most efficient, with Qantas offering the most routes between major cities.
MPs are banned from accruing frequent flyer points on taxpayer-funded trips
like ordinary Aussies can, but they can can receive
lifetime status credits, which allows access to airport lounges
and flight upgrades.
‘How else can one explain the extraordinary dominance of
Qantas in securing bookings by parliamentarians and their staff?’ Myriam Robin wrote in an opinion piece for
the Australian Financial Review.
‘There’s nothing like accruing status credits on someone else’s dime.’
Transport Minister Catherine King has since committed to a review
of flight bookings by government officials which will be conducted by the Department of Finance this year, despite there being just two
months left of 2024.
Politicians’ preference for Qantas may also be
put down to the airline’s exclusive invite-only ‘Chairman’s Lounge’.

The Flying Kanga-RORT – why you’re footing the bill as
airlines wine and dine pollies in VIP club
Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal politician in the
country has accepted free membership of the club.
Qantas and the Albanese government have both denied the airline enjoys
any disproportionate level of influence over the country’s political classes.
A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest registers
– in both the House of Representatives and the Senate – revealed almost 93
per cent of the nation’s leaders have been ‘gifted’ membership to the lavish, all-inclusive lounge.
The high profile ranks of government giftees include Prime Minister Anthony Albanese
as well as every member of his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry and all 12 assistant ministers.
While most politicians declared their Qantas’
privileges as a ‘gift’, Labor MP Marion Scrymgour listed her membership as her ‘Chairman Lounge entitlement’.
Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every
single federal politician in the country has accepted
free membership of Qantas’ exclusive Chairman’s Lounge.
And it’s not just politicians on the take, with more than 60 MPs – including Marles, Chalmers, King, Bill Shorten, Zali Steggall and Tanya Plibersek – disclosing their spouses have also been granted unfettered,
independent access to Qantas’ luxurious members only lounge.
Often touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’, membership to the Chairman’s Lounge has long been veiled
in secrecy.
Even the entrances to each of the country’s six opulent
VIP clubs – in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and
Perth airports – are suitably discreet.
Though, once inside, the designer lounges are immediately more ostentatious, with free à la carte fine dining, table service, a decadent
selection of wines and Champagne and a discreet army of dedicated
lounge attendants.
Membership to the club is ‘priceless’ – it cannot be bought for any amount of money nor obtained via any amount of
frequent flyers points.
Instead, each member is hand-picked and approved by the company’s chief executive and
chairman.

The author of Green DIY Energy states that he saved lots of money by using
the sunlight to produce energy for his house. He decided to
share his knowledge so he put together a very comprehensive guide for building solar panels at
home. It’s a daring project and it sounds very interesting.
Although it may seem a little complicated it’s not. You won’t be sorry purchasing Green DIY Energy.
The guide provides step-by-step instruction and details on how to build
your energy system. The activity is easy and fun. When you are done
you will reduce your energy bills and you’ll also contribute to
a cleaner environment.
The money you save by using Green DIY Energy is one of the main advantages of this program.
Your electricity bill will go down with 80 up to 90%.
There are people living in very sunny areas who are capable of producing more energy than they consume
and even sell it and make profit. The grid company has a net
metering policy and lets you sell the extra power you produce to other consumers
on the grid. For this you will receive an amount of money, so don’t
worry about an eventual energy redundancy.
If you were to buy a retail version of solar
panels it would have cost you significantly more. You would have needed a couple of years before the investment started
to pay off, while using Green DIY Energy you
just need a couple of months. Don’t spend unnecessary amounts of
money and chose o make a smart investment instead.
Using Green DIY Energy program you will never have to worry about
power outages anymore. You will have your house powered from your solar panels
no matter if it’s day or night.
Using renewable energy for your house also entitles you to receive tax
credits from the government.
…You can build your own Solar Panels, saving $1,000′s off of retail price.
…Almost anyone can do this, even if you have no
solar experience.
…There is a step-by-step guide that will show you exactly how to build your own solar panel system.
Information just like this will help you discover some hot overview tips fast that you will love, and also some of the best new and fast in use green diy energy secrets.

Anyone who knows me has invariably been subject to a
spiel about how much I love Claudia Winkleman. In part,
it’s because she’s so silly, and in part, it’s because I’m
a huge fan of everything she presents, from Strictly to The Traitors.
But even more than any of that, it’s because I’m obsessed with
everything she wears. I’ve spent a fortune copying her exact outfits, from her Sister
Jane heart cutout dress to a bedazzled Nadine Merabi blazer that I
definitely don’t go anywhere fancy enough to wear.
Since 2005, Claudia has worked with stylist Sinead McKeefry to perfect her signature style.
I’d describe it as soft goth: lots of black, velvet and chunky knits, with a fair few sequins and prints (particularly tartan) thrown in. I’m not alone in my reverence: there are entire Instagram accounts dedicated to tracking down the presenter’s outfits.
But while they offer incredibly useful style inspo, two
issues arise repeatedly: Claudia’s clothes are usually hugely expensive or sold out (or both).
So when the Strictly host stepped out in a typically
preppy black velvet mini dress on Sunday, you’d be forgiven for assuming it was by some top-end designer.
Well, you’d be wrong. The mini dress actually came courtesy
of one of our favourite high street brands, Albaray – and you can pick it up
for less than £100.
The dress is made from plush fabric with contrast satin detailing.
The velvet makes it a little festive, perfect for celebratory bashes over
the next few months, particularly when paired with white stilettos à la Claud.
But it could be just as easily dressed down with white trainers or
ballet flats and a trench for a chic office outfit, so you’ll certainly get your
wear out of it.
Like all of Albaray’s products, it’s ethically made using responsible fabric and sent via a carbon-neutral shipping method, so you can feel good about the dress’s eco-credentials as well as how it looks.
It’s currently in stock in a few sizes online (and
in certain John Lewis concessions) but like most things Claudia wears, it won’t stick around long.
Now excuse me while I go and add to cart.

To date, the film made $6.6 million on its first day, including an estimated

March 24 (Reuters) – Marlboro maker Philip Morris International Inc is working
on options to exit the Russian market, citing a
complex and rapidly changing regulatory and operating
environment in the country following its invasion of Ukraine.
The company, which garnered around 6% its net revenue from Russia in 2021,
said on Thursday it has discontinued sale of several cigarette products and canceled all product launches
for the year in Russia.
It has also canceled plans to make over 20 billion TEREA
sticks, heated tobacco units intended for use
with its IQOS ILUMA devices, as well as related investment of $150 million.
Earlier this month, Philip Morris had suspended its planned investments and decided to scale down manufacturing operations in the country.
Rival Imperial Brands too has started talks to transfer its Russian business to a local
third party, joining BAT in exiting the sanction-hit country.

What is the probability of getting a picture card in deck of 52 cards?
Asked by Wiki User
There are 12 picture (or face) cards in a standard
deck of 52 cards. The probability, then, of drawing a picture card is 12 in 52,
or 3 in 13, or about 0.2308.
There is no simple answer to the question because the children’s genders are not independent events.
They depend on the parents’ ages and their genes.
Unfortunately there is no readily available research into
the genders of seven or more children to establish the experimental probability for such an outcome.
However, if you assume that they are independent events then, given that the probability of a girl is
approx 0.48, then the probability of the seventh child being a
girl is 0.48.

Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album in February.
Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100
at No. 27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next album, which she described as both
‘fun’ and ‘darker.’
Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project, Gaga said that she’s been focused
on the production side of her new songs.
‘I love producing — I always have — and something that
was really important to me making my seventh studio album was blending live instrumentation with programming,’
she explained.
‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective — it
is genre-bending, and I think in that way is a deeply personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about music.’
She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with her iconic 2009 album,
The Fame Monster.
However, fans need not be worried that Gaga is going
too somber with her sound.
‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and meant to be enjoyed at a party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time
— to be free of your worries at home or walking through life,’
she insisted.
Lady Gaga is focused on releasing her seventh studio album this February following the disappointing reception to lead single
Disease
Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews
from music critics, who lauded it as a return to the star’s roots.
Unfortunately, the acclaim failed to translate to
the charts, with Disease debuting at No. 27 on the Hot 100 –
her worst entry for a lead single in 16 years.
On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one of her
biggest hits in years thanks to her Bruno Mars duet, Die With
a Smile.
The ballad has so far reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No.
1 on the Pop Airplay Chart.
It comes after Gaga’s leading role in the disastrous Joker:
Folie à Deux.
The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix
as Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Gaga as Lee
Quinzel (Harley Quinn), faced negative reviews from critics before its October 4 release and flopped at the box office.
Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the
movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has ‘no plot’ and admitted he knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said: ‘It’s the worst
film ever made.
Gaga told Vogue magazine that she’s been focused on the production side of her new songs
Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease

flopped on the Hot 100
‘I think what happened, after the first Joker, there was a lot of talk like, “Oh, this was loved by incels. This was loved by the wrong kinds of people. This sent the wrong kind of message. Male rage! Nihilism!” All these think pieces.
‘And then I think, “What if we went the other way,” and now they have
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga tap dancing to a point where it’s insane,’ he
continued.
‘It has no plot. We would sit there, me and these other guys were all dressed in these security outfits
because we’re working at the Arkham Asylum, and I would
turn to one of them and we’d hear this crap and I’d go, “What the f*** is this?” And they’d go,
“This is going to bomb, man.” I go, “This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.”
‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, “What is the plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?” It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is.’

Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is at
the heart of their reason for entering Parliament in the first place hear themselves?
In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments
against proposed electoral reforms that the major parties look set to come together
to support.
The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals can donate,
caps on the amount candidates can spend in individual electorates to prevent the equivalent of an arms race, and a $90million limit on what any
party can spend at an election – actually less than the
major parties currently spend.
The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure thresholds for donations,
thus increasing the transparency of who makes political donations in the
first place.
So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while using
their cash to influence election outcomes – and the extent to which they can use their wealth at all will be limited.
The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing
the speed and frequency that disclosures of donations need to be made.
At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made – but you only find out the details of who has given what to whom many months later, well after elections are won and lost.
In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much
greater transparency and far less big money being
injected into campaigning by the wealthy.
Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were ‘running scared’ with the policy and warned the reform would ‘not stop
the rot’
Greens senate leader Larissa Waters (left)
fired a warning shot – saying if it serves only the major parties ‘it’s a rort,
not reform’. Teal independent ACT senator
David Pocock (right) said: ‘What seems to be happening is a major-party stitch-up’
Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party, as
opposed to $16,000 under the current rules, will need to disclose having done
so. And how much they can donate will be capped.
Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a
‘stitch-up’, ‘outrageous’ and ‘a rort, not a reform’.
They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor’s proposal just might secure
the support of the opposition.
I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to write this column.
Because I had assumed – incorrectly – that these important transparency measures stamping out the influence of
the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens or the corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag the major parties closer to accountability.
More fool me.
The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being
put forward by Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal
of crossbenchers.
It makes you wonder what they have to hide.
Put simply, the Greens and Teals doth protest too much
on this issue.
Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political donors such as Clive Palmer
Another potential target of the laws is businessman and Teal funder
Simon Holmes à Court
The Greens have taken massive donations in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules
(Greens leader Adam Bandt and Senator Mehreen Faruqi
are pictured)
The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of Simon Holmes à Court wields behind the scenes amongst the Teals.
And we know the Greens have taken massive donations from the wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular
calls to tighten donations rules.
Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of
virtue are running a mile from reforms that will curtail dark art of
political donations.
The Labor government isn’t even seeking for these transparency rules to take
effect immediately, by the way. It won’t be some sort of quick-paced
power play before the next election designed to catch the crossbench out.
They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone enough time to
absorb and understand the changes before preparing for them.
Don’t get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor
and the Coalition. I imagine the opposition want to go
over the laws with a fine tooth comb.
As they should – because it certainly isn’t beyond Labor
to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would create loopholes only
the unions are capable of taking advantage of, therefore disadvantaging the Coalition electorally
in the years to come.
But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these proposed laws implemented,
the crossbench should offer their support, not cynical opposition, to what is being advocated for.
They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could
be incorporated in the package.
To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard false
commentary about being in politics to ‘clean things up’.

Beyonce went topless as she paid homage to iconic
duo Prince and Apollonia in her latest Halloween costume.
The superstar, 43, took to Instagram on Friday with
her second look from spooky season, after previously dressing up as Betty Davis.
She channeled both the late Purple Rain hitmaker and his protégée turned lover, Mexican model Patricia ‘Apollonia’
Kotero.
While roleplaying Apollonia, the Single Ladies hitmaker sizzled in a
plunging black lace bustier under an open tuxedo jacket,
before taking it off and posing in nothing but metallic purple gloves.
Meanwhile her version of Prince consisted of a purple coat with a white frilly shirt, black lace underwear,
and a matching purple guitar.

It is not clear when Apollonia’s relationship with Prince began or ended as he
was dating another one of the stars of Purple Rain during the making of the film, Susan Moonsie.
Prince and Beyonce famously joined forces onstage at the
2004 Grammy Awards, performing a medley that included his iconic 1984 single Purple Rain.
Their duet also included her fan favorite number Crazy In Love, which saw him accompany her on the
electric guitar.
Afterwards, Prince gave an interview in which he shared his appraisal of Beyonce’s musical abilities
when they worked together.
‘I was really curious as to how much she knew musically,
and I was really pleased to find out that she knew a
lot about scales – Mixolydian scales and Egyptian styles and different things like that,’ he said.
‘And I was just trying to show her some chords on the piano and help her to respect the fact that if she learns piano à la
Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles and things like that,
the sky’s the limit as to what she could do, ’cause she’s so very talented.’
Prince died of an accidental overdose in 2016 at the age of just 57.
Earlier this year Beyonce posted a heartwarming Instagram montage of herself wearing a t-shirt
promoting Prince on what would have been his 66th birthday.

What is the difference between Live and Exclusive?
Asked by Wiki User
Live is something that is happening right now (as opposed to
recorded).
Exclusive is when only one channel has the broadcasting rights to the
game.
‘Tis the season of hosiery. Paired with a mini skirt
and a sequin blazer (we’re looking at you, Selena Gomez), or styled with a little black dress and a pair of killer heels (à la Alexa Chung at the Fashion Awards), tights and stockings are a great way to add style –
and perhaps an extra layer of warmth – to your
outfits during the autumn and winter months.
From matte to glossy, opaque to sheer, and black to
skin-toned shades, there’s a lot more to consider than just
the denier number when it comes to picking out a pair of classic tights.
And then, of course, there is also patterned hosiery
(think delicate designs like a back seam, polka dots or lace
detailing) to elevate your winter style.
‘Tis the season of hosiery
In 2024, tights should no longer be an obligation but a fashion choice.
Google searches for ‘tights’ are up by 115% since the temperatures first dropped, and at high-street favourite M&S
two pairs are sold every minute. So what styles are we buying?
The top spot is claimed by the retailer’s 60 Denier Body Sensor Tights (a handy three-pack that sells for just £8 and is available in a black, navy and brown).
The 40 Denier Body Sensor Tights (£8 for a three-pack) are second favourite, followed by the

fourth most popular pair is the 60 Denier
Magicwear Opaque Tights (£14 for a two-pack), and the top five is rounded out by the 100 Denier Magicwear Opaque Tights (£14 for a

These are the number one selling tights at Marks & Spencer
M&S believes the decision between opaque and sheer tights
should be based on the formality of our outfit. ‘Opaque black
tights will go with basically everything. Often said to clash with
black; blue or brown hues are also an option.’
‘Sheer tights are great for more formal occasions and warmer temperatures, as they provide
a lighter and more breathable option,’ the high street giant added.
‘You can achieve that elegant, barely-there look with a
little extra coverage.’
Similarly, intricate patterns, logos and glitter are best suited for evening looks, says
M&S. ‘For a daytime or office look, stick with polka
dots or diamond patterned tights, or if you’re looking for some added cosiness,
try cable-knit tights for some subtle texture.’

The cost for one of London’s most pricey apartments will begin at £35million – with 600 megarich customers already
securing a spot on the waiting list.
Pricing details of billionaire John Caudwell’s spectacular 1 Mayfair development have now been revealed and only those
with the deepest pockets can hope to afford one
of the lavish pads.
The cheapest apartment on offer is expected to be an eye-watering £35million – around 70 times the average cost of a house
in the capital.
Due to complete in Spring 2026 the scheme
will easily surpass London’s previous record breaker, the £1.3billion One Hyde
Park development in Knightsbridge.
Caudwell told The Standard that there are already more than 600 prospective buyers on a waiting list of billionaires and centi-millionaires who have expressed an interest in making a purchase at the scheme.
There will be just 24 ‘principal residences’ in the property including lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses
with up to five bedrooms, and five more smaller ‘pieds-à-terre’ apartments.
The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the developers say even the most
modest property will start with a guide price exceeded by only a handful of mansions
in London’s richest neighbourhoods.
The average price of all 29 units – which cover 300,000 sq
ft – will be close to £70million.

The entry level price of £35million is 70 times the average London property value of around £500,000, and 130 times
the national average price of £268,000 revealed in today’s Nationwide house price survey for November.
The development’s basement is being dug down to 90ft below
ground level to make room for a health spa with a 20 metre swimming pool as well
as a car park.
The designs were led by New York based architect Robert Stern and practice RAMSA,
with contractors, Mace, the construction managers and PJ Carey responsible for the creation of the

The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one of 79

the nine-storey main apartment building.
No expense has been spared on the building’s interior
and it will feature a ceiling with hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo’s Map of
the Heavens in the Vatican, a reception room with a double height ceiling and 18ft high French windows overlooking the garden.
There will also be a Palace of Versailles Hall of Mirrors-style

a library and a garden gallery, with seating areas opening
directly onto the central courtyard garden.

What do pop star Lily Allen, Olympic gold medal-winning diver Jack Laugher,
tennis player Nick Kyrgios and 25-year-old Bonnie Blue from
Nottingham, who has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-old students (and sometimes their
dads, too), all have in common?
Yes, you guessed it. They are all ‘creatives’ on OnlyFans, the adults-only
online content provider founded in 2016 by a young Essex businessman called Tim Stokely, which is now one of the most visited
(and lucrative) websites in the world.
Just last month, Lily Allen caused a stir by revealing that she makes more
money charging $10 (£8) – the site works in dollars
– for pictures of her feet on her OnlyFans account labelled ‘La
Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify.
But Lily’s content is tame in comparison to much of the content on the site, the sort company execs refer to as ‘spicy’.
Everything from cheeky shots of bottoms peeking out of bubble baths,
blondes stirring vats of steaming pasta in G-strings, hot men waxing cars in their pants, right through the sex spectrum to twosomes, threesomes, sixsomes and hardcore pornographic videos.
But also because, thanks to the allure of OnlyFans and the
astonishing sums that a teeny number of the platform’s 4.1million creatives are raking in, more and more young women (and it is mostly young women) who would never have considered it before
are suddenly happy to join in and sell photos of, well, pretty much anything, to pay rent,
settle credit card bills or splash out on nice holidays.
Basically, a flashier life all round.
‘We feel empowered. We have agency. It’s completely up to me
if I take my top off or not,’ says one 21-year-old girl, who joined a year ago and makes
enough in a week to cover a year’s student rent at Sheffield University and prefers not to give
her name.
‘And I am happy to do it because for once I make the rules, in the safety of my home and they’re
paying me to do it. It’s a mug’s game, but I am not the mug.’
For the benefit of those readers who are not among the site’s 305million users, OnlyFans offers creators a platform
where they can charge their fans a subscription fee
ranging from $4.99 to $49.99 a month to look at their content,
contact them (or more often access their ‘chatter’ – more of
which later) and access often more explicit, personalised, ‘à la carte’ content through ‘tips’.
OnlyFans model Bonnie Blue has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-olds
Rapper Cardi B is said to make $9million (£7.1million) a month from the site
Actress Bella Thorne, a former Disney child star,
made a record-breaking $1million (£800,000) in 24 hours
‘Pay $10 to unlock this video’. ‘Click here for more spicy content’.
‘The more you pay, the more you see’. You get the gist.
In 2023, the site generated a record $6.6billion (£5.2billion), of which the company takes a straight 20 per cent – much less than YouTube – and the rest goes to
the ‘performers’.
It is unlike Instagram or other social media sites in that nothing is
suggested – instead, you have to search for, and then subscribe to, individual accounts to
see much more than profile pictures.
Which is a good thing, because while some of the content is anodyne, much is highly sexual and many
people on the site can bob freely from one to another.
Perhaps a cookery hack one day, modelling new boots the next, then graduate to a few cheeky cleavage and bikini shots and more, as the money becomes more tempting.
Every week, it seems, we hear of someone who has made millions.
Last month it was announced that American influencer Corinna
Kopf had retired from the site, aged 28, after making $67million (£53million).
In her best month, she reportedly earned more than $2million (£1.6million).
Rapper Cardi B is said to earn more than $9million (£7.1million) a month from the site.
Meanwhile, Darcie Rattles was an out-of-work bricklayer with £6,000 in credit
card bills and debts when she joined OnlyFans in 2022.
‘I was thinking: how the hell am I going to get to next week?
How am I going to pay my credit cards?’ she says in an online interview.
‘I’m young, I’ve got a good body and I’ve got a lot of followers.
It is what any girl would turn to. It had been in the back of
mind for two years, but then I did it.’
Within two days of launching, she had earned enough to pay off her debts.
Today, Darcie, who comes across as likeable, down-to-earth and has no
qualms about what she shares, claims to earn more than £250,000 a year.
Pop singer Lily Allen has discovered a niche market…
… she sells pictures of her feet for £8 and makes more money from her account labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does
from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify
‘It doesn’t matter to me whether I get my feet out, or my other bits out,’ she says.
Though it does tend to be the other bits, because Darcie’s content promises very few clothes and, for those who pay extra, ‘a naughty side
to me you’ve never seen before’.
But even Darcie seems like the girl next door compared to Lily
Phillips, a British model who earned £2,000 in her first 24 hours on the site
and recently went viral for sleeping with 101 men over
a 14-hour period. She has since announced she is
planning to set a record of having sex with 1,000 men in 24
hours.
And Bonnie Blue, a beautiful blonde with a golden tan and astonishingly white teeth,
who has worked her way round Derby, Nottingham, Cancun and Australia, sleeping with university students.
On one night during Nottingham Trent freshers’ week – after publicising her stunt by wearing a
sandwich board that read: ‘Bonk me for free and let me film
it’ – she had boys queuing up from 6pm until
five in the morning.
‘I got through them all,’ she said proudly in one interview
in which she reminds us that, thanks to OnlyFans, she has already banked more than £3 million – for
which she was applauded by her followers for her entrepreneurship.
But all that is chicken feed when you consider the £370 million dividend that company owner paid himself last year.
And these days that’s Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a
majority stake from Tim Stokely in 2018, two years after he started the business with
the help of a loan from his father.
It was the Covid-era lockdowns that thrust OnlyFans into the stratosphere.
Everyone shut up at home, nothing to do. In 2020, it generated revenues
of $2.23billion (£1.8billion). By 2021, it was up to
$4.8billion (£3.8billion). There was a brief hiatus in October of
that year when they tried banning sexually explicit content but that
lasted about ten minutes before they switched back.
There have been plenty of scandals along the way. A BBC investigation back in 2021
revealed that children were not just accessing
the material online by foxing the age verification process but were also selling explicit videos
on the website. Leah, 17, had used a fake driving licence to
set up an OnlyFans account where she made £5,000 uploading revealing videos of herself.
There have also been claims of OnlyFans creators using public gyms and spaces to make
adult content.
Recently there has been more concerns that the company is not doing enough to protect
minors.
OnlyFans, however, prefers to portray itself as a force for
good, with supporters arguing that it empowers people by allowing them to sell content – over which they have full control – directly to consumers.
And many of the Gen Z generation seem to agree. ‘It’s fine.
It’s empowering. It’s taking control,’ they cry, pointing out that the site has loads of moderators and a tight
security system to ensure that all users are over 18.
And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn’t just about sex.
Of course, they’re right. It has long been awash with pneumatic reality TV stars
and the likes of Lottie Moss, Kerry Katona and Katie Price, who
are happy to tease their followers with a few cheeky peeks
in skimpy bikinis.
I spend an afternoon browsing the site and, while it is not all
‘spicy’ content as the company executives like to call it, everything is dripping with sauce and promise.
The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish chef is holding her paella pan. Company executives have
been pushing hard to make the platform more mainstream – offering contracts and financial incentives to encourage
musicians, sports stars, cooks, anyone really, to come
on and share a bit of exclusive – or niche – content.
Really, anything that people will pay to look at – glimpses backstage at concerts.
Celebrities in the bath.
During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of athletes jumped on the OnlyFans bandwagon to share pictures of their
beautifully toned bodies.
Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses
the site to share ‘exclusive content that
tastefully explores the boundaries, including artistic portrayals of nudity’ for $14.99
a month. British speedskater
Olympic diver Jack Laugher is among a number of sports stars using OnlyFans
Reality TV star Kerry Katona has also teased followers with content
Lottie Moss has also taken to the adults-only online content provider that was founded in 2016 and is used by 4.1 million creatives
Elise Christie turned to the site when she found herself in financial difficulties.
All of which seems to be working well for them, but it can be rather murkier for others.
Not least because, in less than a decade, OnlyFans has spawned an entire support
industry of ‘sugar daddies’ who support performers financially and ‘chatters’ who work for them.
‘Sugar daddies’ tend to be older male businessmen who
‘invest’ in promising creatives. In what are referred
to rather murkily as ‘mutually beneficial deals’, they invest in branding and marketing and videography to boost traffic.
Chatters are different. For the real stars, the
traffic is so high and the interaction with followers
so demanding that if they had to do it all themselves, there’s no
way they would ever have time to put their pyjamas back on.
So ‘chatters’ – a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano de Bergerac – do that
for them. Keeping them engaged, online, needy and most of all, spending, spending, spending for more and more content.
Which means, of course, that the whole thing is a total scam.
The poor daft subscriber thinks he’s really making a connection with ‘Racy Tracey from Twickenham’, but is more likely chatting to a middle-aged father
of three from the Philippines.
He will have learnt everything about Tracey – her favourite colour, favourite animal
and favourite position – have studied a script that reminds him ‘it’s
all about selling, selling, selling’, and will be being paid $4 an hour for his efforts.
Or the subscriber could just be talking to an AI bot – which perhaps is more appealing.

EXCLUSIVE
A year after split, I’ve had a baby and got engaged, writes Mother Pukka ANNA WHITEHOUSE
Chatters can be dangerous. As Alanya, a paralegal from Scotland, discovered when she learned that one of her most enthusiastic followers had travelled to her home town to find her, encouraged by her chatter.
‘My chatter told him that I loved him.
I would never, ever have said that,’ she said.
But, sadly, chatters, sugar daddies and stalkers are not a
problem for most creatives. Almost all of whom are still struggling to make any proper money, however many clothes they take off.
They will never know the clout of Cardi B, or Lily Allen, or former Disney child star Bella Thorne,
who famously made a record- breaking $1million (£800,000) in 24 hours when she joined in August 2020.
(Though initially there was some confusion as to whether she
would be appearing nude or not. She did not –
which caused quite a rumpus.)
Because, unlike celebrities who can redirect their existing social
media followers to their OnlyFans accounts, most people find it hard to grab attention without doing something, well, grabby.
So, despite all the tales of golden riches, the average earnings of an OnlyFans creative is still just $150
(£118) a month and, with the market now so flooded, is only likely to go one way.
And it’s easy to see how, if you’re a young woman who has convinced
yourself that you’re in control, empowered and mistress of your own destiny,
you could find yourself moving inevitably and inexorably up (or perhaps down) the scale, revealing more and more.
Until, before you know it, like Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips, you’ve
kept nothing back for yourself.

Joker: Folie à Deux premiered at the 81st Venice
International Film Festival last month and was released in the United Kingdom and the
United States on Friday.
However, the musical has received mixed reviews from critics, while
fans took to social media to claim that Lady Gaga, 38, is running the risk of losing her acting career.
Gaga, whose birth name is Stefani Germanotta, stars as Harley opposite Joaquin’s Joker in the psychological thriller.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: ‘They
just wanted Lady Gaga to sing. The film had no plot, just vibes.
I want my 3 hours back #JokerMovie’;
‘The Joker was such a bore being a musical, that at the end of the movie, even the joker himself asked Gaga to stop singing’;

However, the musical has received mixed reviews from
critics and fans took to social media to claim that Lady Gaga , 38, is running the risk of
losing her acting career
‘This could have been a great romantic musical starring Joaquin Phoenix
and Lady Gaga that people really would have liked, but at no point should this
ever have been a sequel to Joker and used the characters Harley Quinn and Joker, absolutely no reason to even have it be DC Set.’
Another added: ‘The Joker 2 could have done it all
and did way better than the first one but they went with some
f*****g musical just cause lady gaga was in it.
What a way to kill what could have been an amazing Joker series’;
‘The reviews on the Joker are so bad. Omg Gaga your acting career about to be
over.’; ‘Lady Gaga and all this musical s**t were just a terrible idea for the joker sequel when the first was a blast.’;
‘It just felt a lil lackluster. I felt like I hung on as much as I
could but the ending sent me. I think being a fan of both
Gaga and the character joker had me interested but overall upset’;
‘Too much singing! Why is Gaga in the movie though. Definitely
didn’t want to hear her sing’
Meanwhile, The Guardian claimed the much-hyped Gotham sequel proved ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive’.
While Daily Mail branded the sequel as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant yet audaciously
different in style from the original.
Brian Vine wrote: ‘For me, Joker was a near-masterpiece, and while this sequel doesn’t scale those heady heights, it is still a gripping film
about mental illness; not quite comparable with all-time greats such
as Psycho (1960) and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975),
but not too far off. ‘
The mixed reviews come after Gaga showed off her eclectic fashion sense on Monday as she channelled her character Harley
Quinn at The Joker: Folie à Deux premiere in Los Angeles.
The entertainer stars in the forthcoming project alongside Joaquin Phoenix,
49, who joined her on the red carpet.
The movie serves as a follow-up to Phoenix’s
2019 box office hit, which was simply titled Joker.

One month before the sequel’s release date, Joaquin praised
Gaga for her ‘impressive’ preparation for the feature
film.
During a Venice Film Festival press conference in which he discussed shedding pounds
for Joker, he added: ‘Stefani also lost a lot of weight.’
‘I remember when I first met you in rehearsals and then you went away for like a month and then you came back, you lost a lot of weight.’
He continued, ‘It was really impressive. It seemed very difficult.’
Gaga agreed, ‘I think we transformed into our characters over a period of time

She plays a music therapist at Arkham Asylum in The Joker and said:

LONDON, April 29 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International’s goals for heated tobacco in the United States
are reachable, analysts and investors say, even though rivals see limited potential in a
market where vaping dominates.
The world’s biggest tobacco company by market value
will launch its flagship heated tobacco device IQOS in the U.S.
in the second quarter, developing the brand pretty much from scratch.
IQOS is already the top selling heated tobacco device globally and is central to PMI’s efforts to transform its image from a
cigarette maker to a company driving the shift to healthier
options.
In the U.S., heated tobacco is currently almost non-existent in what is one of the largest markets globally for alternative nicotine products.
PMI wants to get a 10% share of total U.S. cigarette and
heated tobacco volumes within around five years of it launching the latest version of its
device, not expected until at least 2025.
To do this would mean switching some 2.8 million U.S. smokers to IQOS, based on a
Reuters analysis of PMI numbers and Barclays forecasts.
Rival British American Tobacco has said it does
not see huge potential for heated tobacco in the U.S.
where vaping is dominant.
Two analysts and one investor in PMI told Reuters they see an opportunity
for PMI in the U.S.
“We are all going to be watching this test,” said Bonnie Herzog,
analyst at Goldman Sachs.
PMI has poured most of the more than $12.5 billion it has spent so far on smoking alternatives into IQOS’ development.
Heated tobacco devices heat up sticks of ground up tobacco without burning them in an attempt to avoid the harmful
chemicals released via combustion.
Its U.S. roll out will be a key test of the device’s ability to appeal
to smokers across different markets. If successful
in the U.S., PMI would get a substantial base of new, profitable users and a hefty
income stream. PMI estimates the total U.S. industry profit pool at around $20 billion.
PMI spokesperson Corey Henry told Reuters the company has every reason to believe it can replicate successes seen elsewhere with IQOS in the United States.
“In every market where we have launched IQOS, we’ve heard the same song from competitors. However it isn’t long before those same competitors jump into the category,” he said.
TRACK RECORD
Reuters used PMI’s most recent annual figures on total IQOS stick sales
and total users to estimate that users on average consume around 4,379
sticks per year.
At that rate, PMI would need around 2.8 million IQOS users in the U.S.
to sell the number of sticks required to achieve its 10% market share goal by 2030.
Barclays forecasts U.S. cigarette and heated tobacco annual sales at around 122.79
billion sticks in 2030.
In Japan, PMI’s largest IQOS market by shipment volume, there are
8.5 million users, making the U.S. target look manageable.
But vaping is largely absent in Japan due to regulations.
Globally there is little evidence that high vaping rates hurt heated tobacco take-up, research by Bernstein analyst Callum Elliott showed.
“Maybe the 10% … target really could be achievable?” he
wrote in a note.
Brett Cooper, managing partner at equity research firm Consumer Edge, said PMI can use its track record of IQOS success in several countries to help it
hit its U.S. goals.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has authorised PMI to market
IQOS as reducing exposure to harmful chemicals versus cigarettes.
The FDA has not done the same for vapes.
As a result, IQOS could have lower taxes, which would help to ease its relatively high price tag.
The most recent IQOS device costs 109 pounds
($136) in the United Kingdom, where the packs of tobacco sticks cost around five pounds.
PMI’s former parent, Altria, previously sold IQOS on a limited
scale in the U.S. until 2021. Under Altria, a pack of 20
tobacco sticks cost roughly equivalent to a packet of
Marlboro cigarettes.
Phil Biedron, who worked as an IQOS salesman in Atlanta,
Georgia, said price was a key deterrent for those who tried IQOS.
But generally, the device was well received, said Biedron, who worked at a marketing agency hired by Altria.
Stefano Volpetti, PMI’s president of smoke-free inhaled products, said the company would not use price as a lever to grow sales early on.
“Price, at the beginning of establishing a category, is not part of the consideration,” he said, adding PMI would follow
the same approach to pricing in the U.S. as it had elsewhere.
HUGE PROFIT POOL
Altria used sales people, as well as IQOS stores and pop-up kiosks, to promote the product in the U.S.
– a strategy PMI is unlikely to deviate from significantly, given it is
similar to its approach in other markets.
Cooper from Consumer Edge said raising awareness of IQOS in the U.S.
from almost zero while operating within strict advertising laws relative to other consumer products will be no mean feat, and costly.
But there are reasons why PMI, which purchased the U.S.
IQOS rights from Altria back in 2022, may have more success.
The company is currently preparing to launch IQOS in Austin,
Texas, where it was not sold by Altria.
Sales of products like IQOS can eat into cigarette revenues as smokers switch, meaning companies have
to balance the success of heated tobacco with the threat this might pose to
their core tobacco business.
Crucially, PMI can be more aggressive in the U.S. because since
it was spun off from Altria it has no U.S.
cigarette business.
Sean King, equity analyst at top-20 PMI investor Columbia Threadneedle, said: “I believe [its targets] are achievable.”
With an estimated $20 billion profit pool up for grabs and no cigarette revenues to
worry about, PMI can put its firepower behind IQOS
success, he said. ($1 = 0.8022 pounds)

Gillian Jacobs looked chic in red as she appeared on Watch What

The Love star, 40, who is plugging her new series Transatlantic, ended up weighing in on the Vanderpump Rules Scandoval alongside guest Lala Kent
during a fun-filled interview.
The Community alum looked ready for anything in a long, short-sleeved, ribbed
cranberry dress with pink stripes down the sides and pink detailing at
the waist and a high slit up one leg.
The Seven Faces of Jane star wore pointy-toed pale pink pumps with the dress and carried an LL Bean-style tote bag.
Her long, blonde hair was styled in a Veronica Lake hairstyle.
Her makeup was dramatic and her lip color matched
her unique dress.

WWHL host Andy Cohen fired questions at the Ibiza star, asking her
if she thinks Raquel Leviss actually thought she had chemistry with Tom Schwartz.
Gillian said no. She also revealed that she’s a VPR viewer and appreciates
all the context the newest episodes have given to
the off screen drama that’s been dominating pop culture news since March 3.
And when it comes to who she blames more for the affair between Raquel and Tom Sandoval,
she agreed with the most of the rest of the world and said, ‘Sandoval.’
But Lala brought up a good point, saying the blame is on both
of their shoulders since Raquel was best friends with Sandoval’s
girlfriend of nearly a decade, Ariana Madix.
When Cohen asked the Fear Street actress if she thought Raquel and Sandoval would
last, she screwed up her face in disgust and said,
‘Um, no.’
Currently, Gillian is playing Mary Jayne Gold, a real-life Chicago heiress who worked to rescue
European Jews, intellectuals, and artists, during World War II in Transatlantic on Netflix.
‘I think that she felt compelled to help in any way that she
could,’ she said of her character in an interview with Town and Country.
‘Certainly in our version of the telling of it, initially, what she
feels like she has to offer is her money, her wealth.’

She added: ‘The story that we’re telling is that she’s also realizing that she has more to offer beyond that’.
‘In real life and in Transatlantic, she was an incredibly wealthy woman who had
this unique ability in this moment to help out and she
chose to do that.’
‘I read a quote from her saying that this was the most important year of her life,’ she said of the real life Mary Jane.
‘This was the year of her life that was the most consequential and important.
‘She lived a long life but I think that this was really,
the most important period of her life. I tried to not have foreknowledge—you don’t want
to bring, you want your character to be living in the
present.’
‘I think even at the time, she had a recognition of that to some degree.’

Earlier this year, the Pittsburgh native debuted the Seven Faces of Jane, an anthology comprised of
eight short films all starring the actress as the main character.
The anthology has eight different directors, including Jacobs along with Ken Jeong, Gia Coppola, Ryan Heffington, Alexandra Cassavetes, Boma Iluma, Julian Acosta and Alex Takacs.
The cast includes the likes of Emanuela
Postacchini, Anthony Skordi, Leticia LaBelle, Benjamin Hjelm, Chido Nwokocha, Sybil Azur, Daniela Hernandez, Joel McHale, Caroline
Ducrocq, Breeda Wool, Soledad St. Hilaire, Joni Reiss and Paris Nicole.
The film premiered at the Bentonville Film Festival last summer and select theaters and VOD in January.

PARIS (AP) – Not even a tense tête-à-tête in the gold
medal game could spoil the vibe at Paris´ biggest beach party.
Canada´s Brandie Wilkerson and Brazil´s Ana Patrícia got into a finger-pointing shouting match across the net in the tiebreaking third set of the beach volleyball final of the Paris Olympics on Friday night.
The referee tried to keep the peace, but it was the Eiffel Tower Stadium DJ who
cooled tempers on the sand by playing John Lennon´s
“Imagine” over the PA system.
The players laughed and clapped. The crowd applauded and sang along.
Wilkerson was shown a yellow card.
The top-ranked Brazilians left with the gold medal.
“We`re competitors and we are fighting for the same thing: There´s only one gold medal,” Wilkerson said during
a post-match news conference in which the two laughed and jokingly put
up their fists as if they were going to brawl it
out.

medalists, Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson, and bronze medalists,

beach volleyball at the 2024 Summer Olympics,

“Immediately after the game, it´s all love and respect,” she said.
“We bring out the best in each other, and I´m honored to play against this team.”
Ana Patrícia and Duda rallied from an 11-5 deficit to take the first-to-21,
win-by-two first set 26-24, and Canada won the second 21-12.
Brazil opened up a 12-7 lead in the first-to-15 tiebreaker when, after a joust at the net, Wilkerson and Ana Patrícia began pointing fingers at each
other.
The second referee, the one at sand level, moved out to separate the two
players, but Wilkerson continued to argue and picked up a yellow card.
As the Brazilians got into position to serve for the next point, the
DJ began playing “Imagine,” the late Beatle’s song calling for unity and peace.
The message resonated with the players.
“What a beautiful opportunity we have to play the finals under the Eiffel Tower against the best in the world,” Wilkerson said.
“Like, that, in of itself, is a win.”
Wilkerson told reporters afterward that it was all a misunderstanding:
She was responding to her family, cheering in the crowd behind the Brazilians,
and Ana Patrícia thought Wilkerson was taunting her.
“We´re pretty amped up, partners are coming in, refs are coming in. So it was a bit of a mess,” Wilkerson said.
“But after the game, and even right when they came to shake our hands, still on the court, there was an immediate hug and just kind of like, `Hey, it´s all good.´”
When play resumed, it took Brazil only five more points
to finish off Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes,
kicking off a party the sport’s spiritual home hadn’t
seen since hosting the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games at
Copacabana. In Tokyo, the country was shut out at the Summer Games for the first time since beach volleyball was added to the program
in 1996.
Three years later, Brazil not only returned to the podium but
climbed to its top step.
With the Eiffel Tower’s strobes sparking in the background and yellow- and green-wearing fans singing
and waving Brazilian flags, the country was awarded its first women’s
gold since Atlanta. (The United States, which had won four of the last five, was shut out in both the men’s and women’s tournaments in Paris.)
After the medal ceremony, the Canadians and Brazilians – along with
the bronze-winning Swiss – posed for selfies together. Wilkerson and Ana Patrícia spoke to each other and
hugged; there may have even been an air kiss.
“It was a game thing,” Ana Patrícia said. “Everybody wants to win. But it happens. It´s everybody trying to win, but now everything is OK.”
Wilkerson and Humana-Paredes will return to Canada with
the country’s first beach volleyball medal since
the men won bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Games.
That team was coached by Humana-Paredes’ father.
Switzerland beat Australia in straight sets in the third-place game earlier Friday night to earn the bronze
medal.
Nina Brunner and Tanja Huerberli beat Tokyo silver medalists Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar 21-17,
21-15 in 39 minutes. It was the second Summer Games in a row that a Swiss team took the bronze medal, coming three years after Joana
Heidrich and Anouk Vergé-Dépré placed third in Tokyo.
On the men’s side, Sweden was set to face Germany for gold on Saturday night, with Norway and Qatar
playing for the bronze.

What is the difference between Live and Exclusive?
Asked by Wiki User
Live is something that is happening right now (as opposed to recorded).
Exclusive is when only one channel has the broadcasting rights to the game.
Wine and beer have always formed an integral part of celebrations; some
would even take them for granted as tradition. Party mood gets
elevated when these are served in thoughtful glassware because to some extent
everyone is familiar that traditional alcoholic beverages like choice wines and beers taste much better and fulfilling when served in the right glass.
This kind of thoughtfulness can go a long way if the parties are exclusively filled with elite or close guests.
Read on to know what choices of Wine and Beer glasses for Your Next
Cocktail Party would serve your party mood best.
Beer Glasses : Beer has several aspects: visual, olfactory and gustatory.
Not only have these aspects enhanced the experience of a
particular beverage but also the joy of spending time at a party;
different glasses only seem to add. Some glasses are meant to preserve and show off head others attract the drink by its bright colours, fragrance and last but not the least flavour.
A lot you feel after a casual beer drink, how you feel is a lot dependent
on from which glass you have taken it in.

To wines connoisseurs, wine can never taste same from
two different glasses. A wrong glass can leave a bad impression even of a vintage.
To feel a wine as it is, you need to understand the key components of a wine glass to make a
right selection. These are bowl, a stem, and a foot.
All the wine glasses have these, with the only differences to be seen in size and shape.
Generally the type of wine decides the glass it should go into.
Sipping from the glass holding it from its stem can elevate
your experience of the drink.

Up the great staircase trooped the 2,500 guests, resplendent in tiaras and jewels or white tie and tails, to be greeted by
their hostess, the Marchioness of Londonderry, glamorous in a clinging black satin Paris dress.
Either side of her impressive cleavage gleamed
great swathes of diamonds. Round her neck hung a heavy row of pearls that fell below her
waist. On her head was the largest of the Londonderry tiaras, so
big it was known in the family as ‘the fender’.
Pale rays illuminate the top-lit gallery of Londonderry house
Beside her stood her handsome husband Charles, the seventh Marquess
of Londonderry, and the Prime Minister, Lloyd George.
That November night in 1919 was Edith Londonderry’s first Eve of
Parliament reception, a tradition that continued for 20-odd years.
The Marchioness of Londonderry wears ‘the fender’ to greet guests, 1934
Londonderry House, like many of London’s
great houses, was built for entertaining. In the 18th and 19th centuries, most aristocrats and others who lived on their estates for much of the year had a town house to which they
migrated for ‘the Season’ – those summer months filled with balls and parties,
when débutantes were presented at court and launched into ‘society’ in the hope of making a splendid marriage.
The ballroom, Devonshire House
These houses were as magnificent as their owners could manage.
Built and decorated by the most talented of the age, they were sumptuously furnished – walls were hung with silk, damask and wonderful paintings – and often embellished with marble statuary.
The mustard-yellow drawing rooms of Londonderry House were
filled with blue Sèvres vases and gold plate; in the entrance
hall stood a Canova statue of Theseus and the Minotaur (now in the Victoria
and Albert Museum). Suites of rooms, with a ballroom at one end,
could be flung open for entertaining.
Georgiana Cavendish (1757-1806), a lover of gambling – and threesomes
Today most of these palatial mansions have been pulled down or
turned into blocks of flats. With their disappearance went their furnishings, objets and
paintings. But what their wonderful rooms looked like can be
seen in London: Lost Interiors, a book compiled from superb black-and-white
photographs of these amazing houses, some of which belonged to aristocratic landowners, others to plutocrats or society figures.
The drawing room, Grosvenor House
Most of the townhouses – those used for the Season rather than permanent residences
– were clustered round Park Lane, Mayfair or on Piccadilly, like Devonshire
House. Here once lived the fifth Duke of Devonshire and his wife
Georgiana (pronounced jaw-janer), whom he had married in 1774 when she was just 17.
She was a celebrated beauty who quickly became
a leader of fashion, famous for her towering hairstyles three feet high, decorated with birds, fruit,
even ships in sail. The couple spent 20 years in a ménage à trois with Lady
Elizabeth Foster, Georgiana’s close friend, who was also the Duke’s mistress.
Meanwhile, Georgiana’s gambling led to mounting debts:
on her death in 1806 they were found to be the equivalent of £4
million in today’s money.
The rich, restless second Duke of Westminster, AKA Bendor, in his 20s
Another Park Lane mansion was Grosvenor House, belonging to
the dukes of Westminster and one of the largest in London, as befitted the family’s status and
wealth (their huge fortune came from their ownership of Mayfair).
Bendor, the blond and handsome second duke (1879-1953) was known as one of the richest men in England, lavishing jewels on his mistresses,
chief among whom was Coco Chanel.
The picture gallery, Grosvenor House
A restless soul, Bendor would arrive without warning at any of his houses (or yachts).
All were kept ready: cars fuelled, silver polished, servants in livery.
But after the First World War, during which Grosvenor House had
been requisitioned as a hospital, land prices had risen so high that even for Bendor it had become uneconomic and he sold it.
It was demolished in 1927 and the Grosvenor House Hotel was
built on the site.
Designer Oliver Messel, Devonshire House, 1934
At the other end of the scale was 8 Pelham Place, the South Kensington home of Cecil Beaton from 1940 to 1975.
Superbly furnished by this brilliant photographer, it was described loftily by the diarist Chips Channon (for whom the word ‘snob’ could have
been invented – in his diaries he declares, ‘I am only really happy with royalty’) as ‘a tiny but super-attractive snuffbox of a house’.
Beaton, himself no social slouch, ran him close:
at his parties the women often wore stiletto heels,
which pitted the floor, and later he would point them out,
saying, ‘That’s Princess Marina, that’s Julie Andrews, that’s Vivien Leigh…’
French furnishings at 8 Pelham Place, the South Kensington home of Cecil Beaton
Beaton’s near neighbour in Pelham Place, until the mid-60s,
was the great stage designer Oliver Messel. When Messel’s nephew Tony Armstrong-Jones (later Lord Snowdon) became engaged to Princess
Margaret, Messel laid on a lunch, asking the Princess if there was anyone she would particularly like to meet.
She said she had always greatly admired the witty cabaret star Bea Lillie and so Messel invited her.
What none of them knew was that Bea Lillie had a drinking habit.
At the end of lunch she slid quietly under the table
and was carried upstairs to sleep it off. Tony and the Princess took their leave and Messel rushed back
to his studio, where he was busy with fittings for Elizabeth Taylor, only to be interrupted by a telephone call.
Cecil Beaton at home in Pelham Place, 1947
‘It’s Kensington Police Station here, Mr Messel,’ said the voice
at the other end. ‘We thought you ought to know that there’s a naked
woman on your balcony, throwing bottles at everyone who passes
by.’
Among the last of these fascinating residences to
survive was the aforementioned Londonderry House. Throughout the 20s and 30s it had seen receptions
and balls, hosted by the Londonderrys for their four daughters and two
granddaughters. When eventually it had to go, in July 1962, a farewell
party for 300 was given by Alastair, the 9th Marquess.
Live sounds were supplied by a blues band featuring a swaggering young Mick Jagger, no less
– presaging the rise of a whole new swinging London generation.

SHANGHAI, Dec 6 (Reuters) – The yuan was little changed on Friday against the dollar, but is headed for its tenth straight weekly loss amid concerns that new
tariff threatened by President-elect Donald Trump will
heighten strains on the struggling Chinese economy.
Analysts expect the dollar to remain firm as Trump’s policies are expected to drive up U.S.
inflation, but they believe Beijing will prevent the yuan from falling too much.
“We anticipate some depreciation pressure in an expected strong dollar environment,” Lynn Song, Greater China chief
economist at ING, said in a note.
However, “we don’t expect an intentional large-scale depreciation and think the yuan will remain a low-volatility currency vis-à-vis most other Asian currencies.” The yuan was changing
hands at 7.2549 per dollar around midday, little moved from the previous close.
Although the currency has rebounded from a one-year low of 7.2996 hit on Tuesday, it is poised to register its longest weekly losing streak since 2018.
The dollar index fell to one-week low overnight and “the USD’s consolidation should unwind the upside pressure building” in the yuan, aided by
ongoing attempts by China’s central bank to restrain its decline, said Alvin Tan, strategist at RBC Capital Markets.
Recent data has painted a mixed picture of China’s
economic recovery, with manufacturing activities
improving, but property sales in many Chinese cities remaining weak.
China’s “economic landscape is unarguably dull, and the absence of excitement is perhaps the most salient feature,” said
John Browning, managing director of BANDS Financial.
He doesn’t expect huge stimulus to be announced during next week’s Central Economic Work Conference, as “Beijing’s largesse will be reserved until after Trump is restored to the White House and the trade war formally begins.” Top policymakers will gather at the conference to agree on major economic goals
for next year.
But the target for 2025 growth, one of the most closely-watched indicators globally
for clues of Beijing’s near-term policy intentions,
likely will not be officially announced until an annual parliament meeting in March.
During Trump’s first term as president, the yuan weakened
about 5% against the dollar after the initial round of U.S.
tariffs on Chinese goods in 2018, and fell another 1.5% a year later when trade
tensions escalated. Growth worries and expectations of further monetary easing by Beijing pushed China’s 10-year treasury yields below 2% to record lows this week, worsening the yield disadvantage against
the U.S., and exerting downward pressure on the yuan. ING’s
Song expects the onshore yuan to move within a band between 7.00-7.40 per dollar, but could fall further to 7.50 “if tariffs come in earlier or more aggressive than our forecasts.” LEVELS AT 03:47 GMT GMT INSTRUME CURRENT UP/DOWN( % CHANGE DAY’S DAY’S LOW
